9:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Leading with Your Strengths: Using StrengthsFinder to Build Successful Relationships; Stephanie Brouwer, United Way of Central Indiana

Do you have the opportunity to do what you do best every day? Are you looking for a new innovative way to develop relationships and effectively build partnerships in your position? Come join us as we talk about StrengthsFinder- a popular assessment that helps people uncover and develop their natural talents. This session will provide insight into the 34 different strengths, four leadership domains, and allow participants to not only understand themselves better but also how to successfully work with others. There is no need to take the assessment prior to this session, come ready to learn about how StrengthsFinder can strengthen your work relationships and expand your leadership abilities.

10:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. Novel Approaches to Fundamental Challenges in Prospect Research; Angela Smith, Indiana University Kokomo and Kelly Davila, Polis Center at IUPUI

This presentation will survey various qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to demonstrate how analysts and decision-makers can expand the scope of their assessments to answer typical and emerging research questions. Topics will include generating new data using publicly available data sets; partitioning prospects in unique and novel ways; and understanding how different methodologies inform and guide development strategies. These methodologies will be discussed in terms of their applications to the analysis and interpretation of prospect research with the novice practitioner in mind.

12:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. I’ll Be There for You – What Friends Can Teach Us about Collaborating with Gift Officers; Susan Fetscher, University of Southern Indiana and Maggie Hurm, University of Southern Indiana

Susan and Maggie have worked together for over a year and in the process built a friendship based on mutual respect and understanding of the other’s responsibilities. They will speak about how to collaborate on projects and how to approach inevitable conflicts, all through the lens of the classic sitcom Friends!
